Taxpayers and their agents across Papua New Guinea are lodging documents and paying tax online, and by August 2022 about 2,000 of them had registered for MyIRC. The Internal Revenue Commission (IRC) launched MyIRC, its online service platform built with NiuPay, in December 2021.

On 10 August, the IRC briefed more than 50 tax professionals and small business owners in Port Moresby on its digital communication and payment platforms. Jason Kurdzinski, then a Director of NiuPay and now our Chief Technology Officer, took them through MyIRC and encouraged everyone to use it.

What MyIRC does

With MyIRC, taxpayers and their agents can:

  • submit documents of any size remotely;
  • get notified when documents are received and processed, so each one is submitted once;
  • pay instantly by card, for every tax type;
  • raise queries with the help desk online.

MyIRC runs on Amazon Web Services. As IRC Commissioner General Sam Koim explained to Business Advantage PNG in May 2022, taxpayer data is now held securely in the cloud. The National reported the briefing.
