NiuPay to build a digital front desk for the Office of Workers’ Compensation
Injured workers and their families will soon be able to reach the Office of Workers’ Compensation (OWC) from a phone, at any hour. OWC has engaged NiuPay to build the platform, and the contract was signed in Port Moresby on Friday 2 October 2026.
Chief Commissioner Martin Pala and our Business Development Manager, Kristina Kekedo, signed for the two organisations. The Chief Commissioner calls the platform an “electronic front desk”: one place where injured workers, their dependants, employers, insurers and brokers can reach OWC’s information and services 24 hours a day. His brief is that it should be simple enough for “the man on the street” to use. NiuPay was selected through a competitive tender.
What the platform will do
- Put OWC’s information and services on any phone or computer, at any hour.
- Let people follow the progress of a claim, and help officers keep track of every case.
- Work for everyone OWC serves, whatever their experience with computers.
How it will be built and run
The platform is being built to meet the Digital Government Act 2022, the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s Government Cloud Policy and the Government Website Standards. It will run securely on Amazon Web Services, and OWC will own the platform and its data from the first day. After launch, we’ll look after it around the clock.
Our Port Moresby team, led by Project Delivery Manager Alistairs Dirua, started work on Monday 5 October. Thank you to Chief Commissioner Pala, Commissioner Chris Kolias and the OWC team for trusting us with this work.
The signing was reported by The National, PNG Business News and Pacific Business Review.
