Officers from all 22 provinces trained to run eRODSS
For teachers across Papua New Guinea, being paid on time starts with a form. Every year, each teacher goes through the Resumption of Duty process, which confirms they are back at their post and should be paid. On paper, it has been slow and easy to get wrong: forms go missing, details are mistyped and approvals are slow, and some teachers have been suspended from Alesco, the government payroll system, while their paperwork caught up with them.
eRODSS, the Electronic Resumption of Duty Summary Sheet, moves the whole process onto a secure digital platform. Submissions are quicker, approvals arrive on time, and every record is checked as it goes in.
Step by step
We’re building eRODSS together with the National Department of Education, proving each stage with real users before widening it. After its launch on 28 April 2026, it was piloted in the National Capital District in May and in East New Britain in June, with each round improving the platform and the process before the next.
A national workshop
In September, a NiuPay team led by Dorothy Jolly ran a five-day eRODSS Provincial Workshop for salary and appointment officers from all 22 provinces, working with the Department’s First Assistant Secretary of Payroll, Ms Kures Riwa, and her team. Mr Camilus Kanau, Executive Director of the Finance and Corporate Services Directorate, opened the workshop.
Over the week, officers moved from the fundamentals to hands-on practice in a live training environment, working in the two portals they’ll use every day, one where schools submit and one where officers review and approve. By the close, every participant had earned a certificate as a trained officer, ready to lead the rollout in their province.
Congratulations to every officer who took part, and thank you to Ms Riwa, Mr Kanau and the Department’s payroll team. eRODSS now has trained officers in all 22 provinces.
