Kina cards now pay for land and visas online
Kina card holders can now pay their land rent and visa fees online. From December 2020, Kina Bank’s internet payment gateway accepts local Kina cards as well as Visa and Mastercard, opening online payment to many more Papua New Guineans.
Two government services are among the first to benefit, both built on NiuPay’s platform:
- Kina card holders can register for the Department of Lands and Physical Planning’s e-government service and pay their land rent online.
- The Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority (ICA) has joined the gateway as a government client, so visa and citizenship applications can be made and paid for online, several at once, from home.
Kina Bank Chief Executive Officer Greg Pawson called it “a first for Papua New Guinea”, and credited the bank’s partnership with NiuPay. The National and Business Advantage PNG reported the change.
